How Can We Help?
Copyright law can be murky, but violating it can lead to a lot of trouble. How can you know what to do?
Fortunately, there are resources to clear some confusion:
- Edublogger article: copyright, fair use, and creative commons
- Common sense media video: copyright law
- Common sense media article: plagiarism and piracy
There are also resources to find copyright-free content, or cite information:
- Sites for copyright-free media include Pixabay, Wikimedia Commons, and Flickr Commons.
- Google image search, Getty Search Gateway, and other search services have optional copyright filters.
- Other sites may also have copyright-free content. Search for an indicator before using.
- Soundzabound provides copyright-free music (school subscription):
- Sign in with a teacher-provided username & password
- Select a volume (genre group) of music
- Find a song (filters optional), and download
- Content may require attribution. Citation Machine or EasyBib can make this process easier.
