CYHacks ‘24 took place on March 22, 2024, in the CYHS Hub.  CYHS iTeam members planned this 12-hour hackathon as a programming competition and learning event. Participants spent the day attending various seminars and trying online coding activities.  Many of them also chose to compete in the programming contest.  The task required the creation of an application, website, or game based on the theme ‘Elements’.  Competitors chose to focus on ideas such as the periodic table, classical elements (air, earth, water, fire), elements of the body, and more.  They created websites, apps, and games.

The learners ranged in age from elementary through high school and included Central students, Girls Who Code members from Harrisburg and Hershey, and students from other local schools.  CYHS iTeam members arranged donations worth over $300 for food and prizes, and they offered seminars on 3D printing, computer building, networking, cybersecurity, team building, and a Q&A with a Google software engineer.  Presenters included CYHS alumni, CYSD parents who are local business people, and CYHS iTeam members. Our judges included CYHS iTeam members and alumni.
