CYHacks ‘22 took place on March 26, 2022 in the CYHS Hub.  CYHS iTeam members planned this 12 hour hackathon as a programming competition and learning event. Participants spent the day attending various seminars and trying online coding activities.  Many of them also chose to compete in the programming contest.  The task required creation of an application, website, game, or video based on the theme ‘Light’.  Competitors chose to focus on ideas such as the sun, circuits to make light, lighthouses and failing light.  They created websites and games.

The learners ranged in age from elementary through high school, and included Central students, and Girls Who Code members from Harrisburg and Hershey.  CYHS iTeam members arranged donations worth over $700 for food and prizes, and they offered seminars on user interface design, 3D printing, computer building, and a Q&A with a Google software engineer.  Two of the presenters were CYHS alumni. Brain breaks included games from the eSports and iRacing clubs and board games.

Thanks to all of our CYHS iTeam volunteers and sponsors for hosting another great coding event! To see projects from our participants, visit the project gallery and check out the photos and CTV News story (below) for a summary of the day.
