ACM Computer Curricula Recommendations

IEEE Educational Activities Board

  • The ACM and IEEE together have created the computer curricula recommendations intended to be used for all computer education – from K-12 through Associate degree and further university education.  Essentially the same information is found at both of these websites.
  • There is an overview report, a report for each of the five computer disciplines (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering)
  • The IEEE Educational Activities Board develops, implements and evaluates all educational activities in the computer fields at all levels
  • From IEEE: trycomputing.org – site will launch in 2012 with information about computer careers

  • Solid and broad academic education
  • Varied subjects
  • Good grades
  • Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, physics, chemistry
  • Basic computing literacy – AP if possible
  • English, social studies, foreign language, the arts
